UniFi Protect to HomeKit

SmartRTSP for Mac gives UniFi Protect camera owners a simple path toward Apple Home. Add the camera to SmartRTSP, confirm live view works, then continue on Mac.

Typical Protect stream

rtsps://user:pass@NVR-IP:7441/cameraID?enableSrtp

Modern UniFi Protect deployments often prefer RTSPS on port 7441, with a legacy RTSP fallback on port 7447.

Best fit for SmartRTSP

SmartRTSP for Mac can treat Protect's rebroadcast URL as the input layer, which means HomeKit support can be added without changing the existing UniFi Protect architecture.

Expected setup flow

1. Generate the stream URL in UniFi Protect.

Open Protect, select the camera, and copy the RTSP or RTSPS rebroadcast URL.

2. Add it to SmartRTSP for Mac.

Use the camera details in SmartRTSP and confirm live view works.

3. Pair to Apple Home.

When the HomeKit bridge ships, SmartRTSP will expose the working Protect stream to the Home app.
