RTSP Camera Troubleshooting

Use these checklists to diagnose RTSP and ONVIF problems in SmartRTSP, from connection failures and wrong passwords to missing audio, buffering, black screens and notification issues.

RTSP Not Connecting

Check IP address, port, URL format, credentials and network reachability.

Tapo RTSP Not Working

Fix Tapo stream1, stream2, account login, LAN-only access and changing IP issues.

Wrong Username or Password

Fix 401 errors, camera accounts and default credential confusion.

No Video or Black Screen

Diagnose connected streams with incompatible video, substreams or codecs.

Lagging or Buffering

Reduce latency by tuning Wi-Fi, bitrate, codec and substream settings.

Audio Not Working

Check camera audio, codec compatibility and stream settings.

Camera Keeps Disconnecting

Improve stream stability, keepalive behavior and network quality.

Dahua RTSP Abnormally Disconnected

Fix Dahua logs that say RTSP abnormally disconnected from the client.

ONVIF Not Discovering

Fix subnet, UDP 3702, firewall and ONVIF account issues.

Find Camera IP Address

Use router lists, ONVIF scan, vendor tools or network scanners.

Notifications Not Working
