RTSP Abnormally Disconnected from the Client: Dahua Fix
Dahua cameras and NVRs sometimes log "RTSP abnormally disconnected from the client" when a viewer drops, a stream overloads, or a router interrupts the session. This checklist narrows it down quickly.
Quick answer
Use the Dahua substream first, reduce bitrate, avoid sharing one camera account with many clients, disable RTSP ALG, and confirm the stream with SmartRTSP on the same LAN.
Known-good Dahua RTSP URLs
rtsp://user:pass@IP:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0 for main stream.
rtsp://user:pass@IP:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1 for substream.
If it disconnects under load
Lower bitrate, use H.264, use substream, or reduce simultaneous viewers.
If it disconnects remotely
Use VPN instead of port forwarding and disable router RTSP helpers.
