Official Documentation and Verification Scope
Documentation checked: 2026-10-18. The official RTSP article distinguishes IP-camera resources from DVR/NVR output. Use the exact device’s local account and configured port; a familiar path does not establish every product’s protocol or feature support.
These instructions are based on published documentation. This guide does not certify a physical camera, every model in the brand, or all audio, PTZ, event and recording functions in SmartRTSP.
How to Enable RTSP on Amcrest
Log in to the web interface
Navigate to http://<camera-IP>. Use the local account created during setup. A historical username such as admin does not establish a universal account or label password. You can also use the Amcrest IP Config Tool to find cameras on your network.
Verify RTSP is enabled
Go to Setup → Network → Connection. Confirm TCP is enabled and RTSP port is 554. Click Save.
Add to SmartRTSP
ONVIF Scan (recommended): Try discovery if the exact model supports and enables ONVIF; also verify network reachability and local viewing permissions.
Manual URL:
Use subtype=0 for main stream (high res), subtype=1 for sub-stream (low res).
