Aqara RTSP: start with the exact Camera Hub model

Aqara documents local RTSP streaming for Camera Hub G5 Pro. That is a model-specific capability, not evidence that older Aqara camera hubs expose an interchangeable RTSP address.

G5 Pro documented

Confirm G5 Pro firmware, obtain its local RTSP details, and keep NAS file transfer separate from live streaming.

Documentation checked: 2026-10-18. This guide is not a physical-camera test or model certification.

G5 Pro support does not establish support for G2H or G3

The G5 Pro product material explicitly lists RTSP for local audio and video access by third-party software. Use that statement for the named product, rather than applying an address found for an older Aqara camera to the entire range. Hub functions, smart-home integration and a live view in the Aqara app are different capabilities from exporting a standard camera stream.

Check the model label and firmware before configuring a viewer. If a different Aqara camera lacks an official RTSP setting or published instructions, this guide does not supply a guessed endpoint. RTSP support also does not, by itself, establish ONVIF discovery or PTZ control.

Prepare a G5 Pro connection

  1. Confirm that the device is Camera Hub G5 Pro and install applicable firmware through the official Aqara app.
  2. Open the model-specific RTSP instructions and enable the local streaming feature in the camera settings where available.
  3. Copy the address and credentials supplied by the camera; do not substitute your Aqara cloud login or an address from a G2-family community example.
  4. Place the viewer on the permitted local network, test the copied stream, then reserve the camera address in the router if stable addressing is needed.

An address change is different from a password reset

The G5 Pro support FAQ distinguishes ordinary power cycling from a factory reset: a restart retains the RTSP credentials, while a factory reset resets them. A DHCP address change can still break a saved connection even when the password is unchanged. Compare the camera current address with the saved viewer entry before resetting the device.

After a deliberate factory reset, complete official onboarding again and retrieve the current stream details. Avoid repeated password changes while diagnosing a simple network-address mismatch.

NAS storage and live RTSP solve different jobs

Aqara also advertises SMB NAS storage for G5 Pro. Saving files to a NAS does not make the NAS folder a live RTSP URL. Decide whether you need camera video for a live viewer, stored files for retention, or both, and configure the corresponding feature. Check the receiving application media requirements before assuming every advertised recording format will play in every viewer.

Keep local access private and scope the result

Use unique camera credentials and keep the stream on a trusted network. Do not open a router port merely because a local connection works. If the image fails, separate address reachability, authentication and media decoding instead of treating each failure as missing RTSP support. Reviewed on 2026-10-18 against the G5 Pro product and support pages; this is documentation-based guidance, not a physical-camera certification.

Check each feature independently

Start on the same local network with the exact model, firmware and account permissions. A working video stream does not prove support for ONVIF discovery, pan or tilt, two-way audio, events, or every recording feature. Test the features you need in your installed SmartRTSP app.

Keep camera credentials private. Do not expose camera ports to the public internet just to test local viewing. Manufacturer cloud accounts, device accounts and generated sharing links are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Aqara camera hubs support RTSP?

No such range-wide claim is made here. Aqara explicitly documents G5 Pro RTSP; check the official instructions for any other model.

Will restarting G5 Pro change its RTSP password?

The support FAQ says power cycling retains credentials, while a factory reset resets them. A changed IP address can independently interrupt the saved connection.

Does SMB NAS support prove ONVIF compatibility?

No. SMB file storage, RTSP live streaming and ONVIF discovery are separate features.

Official sources and scope

Read the documentation for the exact model before changing settings. Manufacturer menus, firmware and service availability can change. These sources explain the published connection conditions, not independently verified SmartRTSP hardware compatibility.
