PTC500S has two different camera views
The PTC500S manual documents a PTZ camera stream and a panoramic camera stream with different ports and paths. The panoramic image is not simply a lower-resolution copy of the PTZ picture. Choose the view that actually contains the scene you want to monitor.
| PTC500S view | Documented RTSP example |
|---|---|
| PTZ camera | rtsp://CAMERA_IP:554/live_st1 |
| Panoramic camera | rtsp://CAMERA_IP:8554/live_st2 |
CAM550: use the address shown by the camera
The CAM550 manual describes network configuration and an RTSP URL available through its web interface. Use that generated or displayed address for the CAM550 rather than copying the PTC500S ports. Similar-looking AVer product names do not establish identical network firmware.
In particular, a conferencing camera working over USB has demonstrated a USB workflow, not an RTSP workflow. Confirm the network video feature and its prerequisites before buying accessories or changing a meeting-room installation.
Configure the camera before adding the viewer
- Identify the complete AVer model and obtain its current user manual from the manufacturer download center.
- Connect the camera network interface and use the specified power supply or supported power method.
- Find the camera local address using its documented setup procedure, then sign in to its configuration interface.
- Set a unique account password and enable or configure the relevant network video stream, including authentication where available.
- For a PTC500S, choose the PTZ or panoramic endpoint deliberately. For another model, copy its own displayed or documented URL.
- Add that endpoint in SmartRTSP and check the first frame, correct camera view and sustained playback on the local network.
Troubleshoot tracking and video independently
AVer tracking, framing and conferencing functions belong to the camera and its supported control software. A successful RTSP picture is not proof that those controls are available in SmartRTSP. Likewise, an active tracking function does not confirm that the RTSP service, port or account has been configured correctly.
When the wrong scene appears, compare the selected sensor and stream, not just the resolution. For an authentication error, use the local camera account rather than a meeting-service login. If the endpoint is reachable but video is blank, review the selected codec and camera stream settings before changing unrelated tracking options. Preserve a working room configuration and make one documented change at a time.
Check each feature independently
Start on the same local network with the exact model, firmware and account permissions. A working video stream does not prove support for ONVIF discovery, pan or tilt, two-way audio, events, or every recording feature. Test the features you need in your installed SmartRTSP app.
Keep camera credentials private. Do not expose camera ports to the public internet just to test local viewing. Manufacturer cloud accounts, device accounts and generated sharing links are not interchangeable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the PTC500S panoramic feed the PTZ substream?
No. The cited manual distinguishes the panoramic camera view from the PTZ camera view and documents separate ports and paths.
Can I use live_st1 on every AVer camera?
No. Use the exact model manual or the URL displayed in its web interface. The PTC500S examples are not a universal AVer template.
Does RTSP provide AVer tracking controls?
Not by itself. Treat viewing, tracking, framing and motor control as separate capabilities that require their own compatibility checks.
Official sources and scope
Read the documentation for the exact model before changing settings. Manufacturer menus, firmware and service availability can change. These sources explain the published connection conditions, not independently verified SmartRTSP hardware compatibility.
