Camera compatibility guide

Dallmeier Camera RTSP and ONVIF Setup

Dallmeier documents integrating its single-sensor cameras and Panomera multifocal systems with third-party video software through ONVIF and RTSP. The appropriate stream and available functions still depend on the camera, sensor layout and integration mode.

Single-sensor and Panomera are different layouts

Use the actual camera’s media profile or documented encoder resource. Standard live video is a narrower requirement than Panomera presentation, analytics metadata or a proprietary management integration.

Documentation checked: 2026-10-18. This guide is not a physical-camera test or model certification.

Identify a single camera view or multifocal system

A single-sensor camera and a Panomera multifocal system do not represent the same set of images. Before connecting, decide which physical device and view should appear in SmartRTSP. A management application’s combined presentation is not proof that every third-party RTSP player receives that same presentation.

The manufacturer’s integration overview describes ONVIF and RTSP alongside separate APIs for deeper integration. Keep ordinary video, camera management and analysis metadata as distinct requirements. Availability of one interface does not establish the viewer’s support for all the others.

Obtain a stream without guessing sensor mappings

  1. Read the full camera or Panomera model and firmware. Identify the local endpoint that supplies the required view rather than starting from a recording-server address.
  2. Open the authorized local configuration and inspect enabled video encoders, media profiles and the configured streaming port.
  3. Where the camera supports and enables ONVIF, obtain the URI for the intended media profile. Otherwise use the camera-specific RTSP resource documented for that firmware.
  4. Check the viewing account and selected image source. For multiple sensors, verify the resulting picture instead of assuming that an encoder number corresponds to a particular lens.
  5. Add the confirmed URI in SmartRTSP on a reachable local network. Test live movement and reconnection before adding the stream to a daily camera layout.

Understand the scope of encoder examples

The cited SeMSy documentation includes Dallmeier camera requests using encoder1, encoder2 and encoder3, and explicitly warns that newer models or versions can differ. Treat those requests as examples for the documented equipment, not as a permanent path contract for every product.

When the camera returns a URI through ONVIF, preserve its resource and parameters. Replacing it with a shorter encoder example can select a different image or fail altogether. Record the working configuration so it can be checked again after firmware or integration changes.

Separate stable playback from advanced integration

Start with one supported encoder and a practical resolution. If the picture is unstable, inspect the codec, bitrate and local network rather than immediately changing analytics or recording settings. Existing management systems may be using the same camera configuration.

Then check the extra functions you need. ONVIF profile support, metadata delivery, pan/tilt control and proprietary analysis features have their own requirements. A working image in SmartRTSP should not be described as a complete Panomera or Dallmeier management-system certification.

Check each feature independently

Start on the same local network with the exact model, firmware and account permissions. A working video stream does not prove support for ONVIF discovery, pan or tilt, two-way audio, events, or every recording feature. Test the features you need in your installed SmartRTSP app.

Keep camera credentials private. Do not expose camera ports to the public internet just to test local viewing. Manufacturer cloud accounts, device accounts and generated sharing links are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will encoder1 work on every Dallmeier camera?

No. It is a documented example with an explicit model/version caveat. Prefer the current device’s profile URI or matching camera manual.

Does RTSP reproduce the full Panomera management experience?

Not necessarily. Identify the required media view and check any combined presentation or analytics requirement separately.

What testing does this guide represent?

Official documentation was checked on 2026-10-18. No physical Dallmeier camera or complete multifocal installation is certified by this guide.
