Camera compatibility guide

SwitchBot RTSP depends on the model and firmware

Newer SwitchBot instructions document RTSP for Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 2K, Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 3K and Smart Video Doorbell. Older camera FAQs cover a different model set and must not be treated as a current blanket answer.

Model and firmware specific

Create a local Camera Account, select the documented stream path, and account for the doorbell wake-up behavior.

Check the Plus model name before using a legacy answer

The current setup article names Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 2K, Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 3K and Smart Video Doorbell. The older FAQ lists earlier Indoor Cam, Pan/Tilt and other models as not supporting RTSP. These documents concern different devices. Confirm the full product name and current firmware rather than deciding from the SwitchBot brand alone.

The AI Hub can also receive compatible third-party camera streams. That incoming function is not proof that every SwitchBot camera exports RTSP, nor does it establish ONVIF discovery support.

Enable a local Camera Account

  1. Update the supported camera or doorbell through the SwitchBot app and confirm it is connected to your local network.
  2. Open the device settings, then More Features > Camera Account, and enable the feature described in the official instructions.
  3. Create unique Camera Account credentials; these are the local streaming credentials, not a reason to put a cloud account password in a URL.
  4. Find the camera IP in Wi-Fi settings or the router, construct the documented model-specific address, and test it from an authorized device on the same reachable network.

Pan/Tilt Plus main stream and standard stream

For the supported Plus 2K and Plus 3K cameras, the official article uses RTSP port 554 with live0 for the main stream and live1 for the standard stream. Substitute the Camera Account and actual camera address in the example. If a high-quality stream delays or fails to render, test the standard stream before changing unrelated account or network settings.

The Smart Video Doorbell has a different path and lifetime

The doorbell instructions include its MAC address without colons before live1. Do not reuse the Pan/Tilt path. The documented stream is associated with a doorbell wake event or button press, rather than a promise of an always-on feed. A sleeping doorbell can therefore behave differently from a powered indoor camera even when its saved address is correct.

Troubleshoot firmware, credentials and network in order

If Camera Account is missing, check the exact supported model and available firmware first. If login fails, recheck the local account. If a connection times out, verify the IP and permitted LAN route; do not disable network protection or expose port 554 publicly as a shortcut. Reviewed on 2026-10-18 against the linked SwitchBot setup and support articles. Paths are documented examples for the named models, not a hardware-tested guarantee for the entire range.

Check each feature independently

Start on the same local network with the exact model, firmware and account permissions. A working video stream does not prove support for ONVIF discovery, pan or tilt, two-way audio, events, or every recording feature. Test the features you need in your installed SmartRTSP app.

Keep camera credentials private. Do not expose camera ports to the public internet just to test local viewing. Manufacturer cloud accounts, device accounts and generated sharing links are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SwitchBot support RTSP now?

The current instructions document it for Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 2K, Plus 3K and Smart Video Doorbell. Earlier model FAQs should not be generalized to those products.

Which credentials should I enter?

Use the local Camera Account configured in the supported device settings.

Can the doorbell provide a continuous stream?

Do not assume so. The official instructions describe wake-event streaming and a doorbell-specific MAC-address path.

Official sources and scope
