- 1. Record the exact device. Note the camera or recorder model, firmware, local IP address, codec, configured RTSP port, and channel assignment.
- 2. Enable a standard local endpoint. Confirm RTSP or ONVIF support in the exact model documentation. Create a dedicated local viewing account instead of reusing an administrator account.
- 3. Test on the same LAN. Run SmartRTSP ONVIF discovery or enter the model-specific RTSP URL while the device and Apple hardware share a trusted network.
- 4. Match the NVR channel. For a recorder, use the channel slot returned by the NVR or its documented RTSP formula. Do not assume every connected camera is exposed.
- 5. Secure remote access. Use a VPN when viewing away from home. Do not publish RTSP or ONVIF ports directly to the internet.

Yes. Hikvision discontinued the software in February 2022. Its notice said installed copies could continue to work but could no longer be upgraded, and the related HiDDNS service was discontinued.
