Bosch Camera RTSP Stream URL & Setup Guide
Published May 1, 2026 | Updated May 8, 2026
Bosch cameras are enterprise-grade security systems with excellent RTSP and ONVIF support. This guide covers RTSP stream URLs, default IP addresses, stream profile configuration, and integration with SmartRTSP.
Default IP Address for Bosch Cameras
Bosch IP cameras do not have a fixed factory default IP. Instead, they use DHCP by default to obtain an IP address automatically from your router. If no DHCP server is available, they fall back to the link-local address range:
169.254.x.x (link-local, auto-assigned)
To find your Bosch camera's IP address:
- Use the Bosch IP Helper tool (free download from boschsecurity.com)
- Check your router's DHCP client list
- Use SmartRTSP's built-in ONVIF scanner — tap Scan to auto-discover all Bosch cameras on your network
- Use a network scanner like Fing or Angry IP Scanner
Default credentials: Most Bosch cameras ship with username service and no password, or admin / admin. You are prompted to set a password on first login.

Bosch Camera RTSP Stream URLs
Bosch cameras support multiple RTSP URL formats depending on model generation:
Standard RTSP URL (most models)
rtsp://username:password@camera-ip:554/media/media.amp
Alternative URL format (some models)
rtsp://username:password@camera-ip:554/video?inst=1&h26x=4
Channel-specific URL
rtsp://username:password@camera-ip:554/media/media.amp?channel=1
Sub-stream (lower resolution)
rtsp://username:password@camera-ip:554/media/media.amp?channel=2
Replace username, password, and camera-ip with your camera's actual credentials and IP address.
Stream Profile Configuration
Bosch cameras allow you to configure multiple stream profiles with different quality settings. To configure stream profiles:
- Access camera web interface at
http://camera-ip
- Navigate to: Configuration → Camera → Streams
- Set codec to H.264 or H.265 for best compatibility
- Configure resolution: 1920×1080 (main), 640×360 (sub)
- Set frame rate (recommended: 15–25 fps for live monitoring)
- Set bitrate mode: CBR (constant) for stable streaming, VBR for quality
Quick Setup Steps
- Find your camera IP using Bosch IP Helper or ONVIF scanner
- Access camera web interface at
http://camera-ip
- Navigate to: Configuration → Network → Streaming → RTSP
- Enable RTSP and confirm port is 554
- Set username and password if not already configured
- Open SmartRTSP → tap + → enter the RTSP URL → connect
Pro tip: Bosch cameras have full ONVIF compliance. In SmartRTSP, tap Scan to auto-discover your Bosch camera — no manual URL entry needed.
Troubleshooting Bosch RTSP Connections
- Cannot find camera IP: Use Bosch IP Helper tool or SmartRTSP ONVIF scan. Ensure camera is on same network subnet.
- No RTSP available: Ensure camera firmware supports RTSP. Update firmware via camera web interface under Maintenance → Firmware.
- Connection refused on port 554: Check firewall rules. The RTSP port (554) must be accessible on your LAN.
- Authentication failed: Try default credentials: service/no-password or admin/admin. Reset via camera reset button if needed.
- Black screen / no video: Set stream codec to H.264 in camera Configuration → Camera → Streams. H.265 may not decode on older devices.
Ready to connect? Use SmartRTSP to add your Bosch camera — use ONVIF auto-discovery or enter the RTSP URL manually.
