Reolink to HomeKit

SmartRTSP for Mac gives Reolink camera owners a simple path toward Apple Home. Add the camera to SmartRTSP, confirm live view works, then continue on Mac.

Recommended Reolink stream

If bandwidth matters more than resolution, SmartRTSP can also use the sub-stream path h264Preview_01_sub before exporting to the HomeKit bridge.

Why Reolink is straightforward

Reolink usually ships with RTSP already available on port 554 and is commonly used with third-party viewers. That makes it a strong candidate for SmartRTSP-based Apple Home integration.

Expected setup flow

1. Confirm RTSP is active in Reolink.

Open the Reolink app or client and verify the camera is exposing RTSP on port 554.

2. Add the stream to SmartRTSP for Mac.

Use the main stream for the best image quality, or use the sub-stream when you want lighter bandwidth for the Home app.

3. Enable the upcoming HomeKit bridge.

SmartRTSP will reuse the working Reolink input and expose it to Apple Home from your Mac.

Best practices

  • Use H.264 where possible for widest compatibility across bridge workflows.
  • Reserve a static DHCP lease for the camera.
  • Confirm the camera works in SmartRTSP before continuing to Apple Home.

Good fit for Apple Home

Reolink is popular among users who want local access without recurring cloud fees. SmartRTSP's Mac bridge is designed to preserve that local-first approach while adding Home app access.
