HomeKit for RTSP Cameras

SmartRTSP on iPhone, iPad, and Mac gives RTSP and ONVIF camera owners a simple path toward Apple Home. Add Hikvision, Reolink, Dahua, Amcrest, Tapo, UniFi, Wyze and more to SmartRTSP, then continue the Apple Home flow from a supported Apple device.

How it works

SmartRTSP already connects directly to RTSP and ONVIF cameras on iPhone, iPad and Mac. SmartRTSP now supports Apple Home workflows across those Apple devices, so people who already use SmartRTSP can add Apple Home without buying new hardware.

The goal is simple: if a camera already works in SmartRTSP, you should not need to replace it just to use Apple Home. Start with the camera you already own, confirm live view, and continue from the SmartRTSP app on your supported Apple device.

Set up in four steps

1. Add your camera

Use SmartRTSP on iPhone, iPad or Mac to add your camera and confirm the live view works.

2. Keep it local

Keep your camera and Apple device on the same local network for the simplest experience.

3. Continue with Apple Home

Use SmartRTSP on a supported Apple device when you are ready to connect the camera with Apple Home.

4. Reuse your cameras

Keep using the cameras you already own instead of replacing working hardware.

Why this matters for Apple users

  • Bring more camera brands toward Apple Home than native HomeKit hardware alone.
  • Reuse existing RTSP and ONVIF cameras instead of replacing working devices.
  • Keep SmartRTSP as your main viewer while adding Apple Home convenience.
  • Use your Mac as the center of the setup without buying extra hardware.

FAQ

Will this only work with one camera brand?
No. The goal is broad camera support. If the camera already works in SmartRTSP, it is a good candidate for the Apple Home path.
Will I still need the vendor app after setup?
Usually only for initial camera settings. After the camera works in SmartRTSP, continue the Apple Home flow in the SmartRTSP app on your supported Apple device.
