RTSP Setup Guide

Foscam RTSP Setup

Use the videoMain or videoSub path documented for your Foscam model. Read the configured port from the camera: port 88 versus 554 is not a reliable older-versus-newer rule.

How to Enable RTSP on Foscam

1

Access the camera web interface

Open the camera web interface using its configured HTTP address and port. Use the Foscam SearchTool or your router device list to locate it. Do not infer the HTTP port from camera age.

2

Check port settings

Open the model-specific network port settings. Foscam instructs users to use the RTSP port when it is listed; on the documented models without a separate RTSP entry, use the HTTP port. Confirm the actual value rather than choosing 88 or 554 by camera age.

3

Add to SmartRTSP

In SmartRTSP, tap + → Manual and enter:

rtsp://camera_user:YourPassword@192.168.1.100:88/videoMain
or when the configured RTSP port is 554:
rtsp://camera_user:YourPassword@192.168.1.100:554/videoMain

These videoMain and videoSub examples apply only to models documented with those paths. Replace the example port with the configured camera port and use your unique local viewing credentials.

FAQ

Why does Foscam use port 88 instead of 554?
Read the actual camera port settings and matching manual. Foscam documents using the separate RTSP port when listed, or the HTTP port on covered models without a separate RTSP port entry. The examples are not an older-versus-newer rule.
Where is the official Foscam documentation?
See Foscam RTSP setup instructions and the manual for your exact model. Documentation reviewed on 2026-10-18; this is not independent physical-device compatibility testing. Confirm ONVIF and control features separately.
