RTSP Setup Guide

Wyze Cam Pan v3 RTSP Setup

Cam Pan v3 has an official native RTSP route in 2026. Use it to check local video, then verify movement and tracking separately: the camera having motors does not make an RTSP URL a PTZ control interface.

Native RTSP; control needs separate checks

Wyze announced RTSP in Pan v3 production firmware 4.50.16.5654 with Wyze app 3.9 or later.

Documentation checked: 2026-10-18. Physical camera compatibility has not been independently verified for this guide.

Match Pan v3 to its own firmware

The 2026-02-02 production announcement lists RTSP for Cam Pan v3 firmware 4.50.16.5654. The RTSP control requires Wyze app 3.9 or later. App 3.8.5 is the separate minimum mentioned for receiving that security update.

The same announcement includes Pan v2 but does not announce RTSP for it. Likewise, the original Cam Pan separate RTSP image is not a Pan v3 image. Confirm the full product name and use the current Pan v3 release notes; do not install another Pan generation’s firmware.

Connect Pan v3 video to SmartRTSP

  1. Confirm the camera is Cam Pan v3 in the Wyze app and note its current firmware. Update the app and check current Pan v3 release notes.
  2. Look for RTSP in the camera Advanced Settings. Enable the feature if your installed firmware provides it, then create streaming credentials and copy its URL.
  3. Add the generated URL through SmartRTSP manual entry on the same LAN. Preserve the exact protocol, port, and path from the camera.
  4. Place the camera at a useful viewing angle using the Wyze app. Verify that SmartRTSP displays the live image at that position.
  5. If you use camera tracking or patrol settings, test the resulting view over time. Confirm reconnection after restarting the viewer before depending on the setup.

Pan, tilt, and tracking are separate from RTSP video

RTSP supplies a media session; it does not establish an ONVIF service or a movement-control API. This guide does not confirm Pan v3 PTZ control or two-way audio in SmartRTSP. Use the Wyze app for camera movement unless the exact control path has been verified.

A moving or tracking camera changes what appears in its stream. If a fixed scene matters to you, review camera-side tracking and patrol behavior in the Wyze app rather than treating a changing view as a viewer connection fault.

No RTSP optionCheck that the device is Pan v3, the app meets the feature requirement, and its installed firmware provides the control. An original Pan flashing guide is not the remedy for a missing Pan v3 menu.

The scene moves unexpectedlyCheck tracking, patrol, and orientation settings in the Wyze app.
Copied address uses RTSPSVerify that the viewer supports that exact encrypted address. SmartRTSP RTSPS compatibility is not established by this guide.
Stream fails after router restartCheck the camera’s current LAN address and saved credentials; use a DHCP reservation when useful.

What an RTSP connection does and does not confirm

A working video stream does not establish ONVIF discovery, pan/tilt control, two-way audio, camera events, or every recording feature. Add this camera by its generated URL and verify each feature you need in your installed SmartRTSP app.

Start with the camera and viewer on the same local network. Keep camera credentials private, reserve its address in your router if needed, and avoid exposing its streaming port to the internet. These instructions are based on published documentation; SmartRTSP has not independently verified this model on a physical camera for this guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Cam Pan v3 now support native RTSP?

Yes. Wyze announced RTSP in production firmware 4.50.16.5654 on 2026-02-02, with app 3.9 or later required for the feature. Check the RTSP control on your installed version.

Can I use the original Cam Pan RTSP firmware?

Do not use an image for a different Pan generation. Pan v3 has its own firmware and a documented native RTSP route.

Will the Pan v3 RTSP URL enable PTZ in SmartRTSP?

The RTSP announcement confirms streaming support, not SmartRTSP movement control. Pan, tilt, ONVIF, tracking, and talkback need separate verification.
