Tapo RTSP and ONVIF Compatible Models in India (2026)

Most mains-powered Tapo cameras support RTSP and ONVIF Profile S. Battery and solar models need a separate check because power mode, Indian availability, hardware version, and firmware determine whether a continuous stream exists.

Direct answer

Use RTSP and ONVIF directly with most plug-in Tapo cameras sold in India. D235, D225, and TD25 provide RTSP only when hardwired, fitted with the jumper, and set to Always-On; that does not itself confirm ONVIF. Normal battery operation generally cannot provide continuous RTSP.

Ports, URLs, and Camera Account

Create a separate Camera Account in Tapo: Live View > Device Settings > Advanced Settings > Camera Account. Do not use the TP-Link cloud login.

Add a compatible Tapo camera to SmartRTSP

  1. Keep the Apple device and camera on the same LAN for the first test.
  2. Run ONVIF discovery on service port 2020.
  3. If discovery fails, enter IP, Camera Account, RTSP port 554, and /stream1 manually.
  4. Use /stream2 for multi-camera grids or weaker Wi-Fi.
  5. Use a VPN remotely and do not expose RTSP/ONVIF to the public internet.

Verification boundary

Verified 14 July 2026 against TP-Link India and current English documentation. Confirm the exact India SKU, hardware version, and firmware before purchase or deployment.

FAQ

Do all wired Tapo cameras support RTSP?

TP-Link says most mains-powered models, not every model without exception.

Does hardwiring D235/D225/TD25 enable ONVIF?

The official exception confirms RTSP under those conditions, not ONVIF.

Why does ONVIF expose only one lens?

TP-Link documents only the wide-angle lens through ONVIF on dual-lens cameras.
