PTZ Control — SmartRTSP Documentation

Requirements

→ Camera must support ONVIF Profile S with PTZ service.
→ Camera must be added to SmartRTSP via ONVIF Scan (not manual RTSP URL) for PTZ to be detected automatically.
→ PTZ is available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Opening PTZ Controls

1 Open a camera that supports PTZ.
2 Tap the PTZ icon (joystick / directional pad) in the toolbar overlay.
3 The PTZ panel slides up with directional controls, zoom, and preset buttons.

If the PTZ button is grayed out, the camera was not detected as PTZ-capable. Re-add it via ONVIF Scan to allow PTZ capability negotiation.

Controls Overview

🕹 Directional Joystick

8-direction movement (up, down, left, right, diagonals). Press and hold to move continuously — release to stop. Movement speed adjustable via speed slider.

🔍 Zoom

Zoom slider (+ / −) for optical zoom in and out. Works on cameras with motorized zoom lenses.

🎯 Focus

Manual focus near/far buttons, plus one-touch Auto Focus. Not all cameras expose focus control via ONVIF.

⚡ Speed

Adjust PTZ movement speed. Slow for precision framing; fast for sweeping surveillance.

Presets

Save camera positions as presets and recall them with one tap.

Save a Preset

Position the camera using the joystick/zoom, then tap Save Preset. Name it (e.g., "Front Door", "Driveway").

Recall a Preset

Tap a saved preset button to move the camera to that position instantly.

Presets are stored on the camera itself (via ONVIF SetPreset). They persist even if SmartRTSP is reinstalled or used from a different device.
