SmartRTSP Feature Overview
A task-oriented map of the features that turn an RTSP or ONVIF stream into a private monitoring workflow.
Connect and watch
ONVIF discovery or direct URL
Discover cameras on the LAN or enter an RTSP, RTSPS, RTMP, RTMPS, or HLS source. ONVIF devices can expose stream profiles and controls.
Live view and adaptive grid
Open a single stream or monitor several cameras. SmartRTSP adjusts active stream work to the device, power mode, and resource pressure instead of promising one fixed grid limit.
Camera validation
Verify authentication, main and sub streams, snapshots, audio, timestamps, and PTZ before relying on a camera for recording or alerts.
ONVIF PTZ and imaging
Use supported pan, tilt, zoom, presets, and focus controls. Available commands are determined by the camera's reported capabilities.
Record, detect, and review
These workflows are local-first: video processing and recording remain on the device or storage location you select unless you explicitly configure an external notification or streaming destination.
Reliable local recording
Start manual or event-triggered video and audio recording, use pre/post buffers, apply retention limits, and review related segments together in History.
History and timeline
Browse recordings by time and camera, filter event types, play continuous sessions, export clips, and remove unwanted events.
On-device detection
Combine motion analysis with person, vehicle, fire, smoke, and supported audio-event models. Use zones and sensitivity controls to reduce false positives.
Alerts and integrations
Turn selected events into local notifications or configured webhooks. Test the trigger path before treating it as an alarm system.
Publish and integrate
Apple Home bridge
Expose a compatible camera as a local Apple Home accessory. The SmartRTSP bridge device must remain available; a Mac is the practical choice for an always-on bridge.
Live Push / RTMP
Publish a selected camera to an RTMP destination. H.264 can pass through when compatible; other source formats may require conversion.
Private remote viewing
Reach cameras through an encrypted VPN or private network. Avoid exposing RTSP ports directly to the public internet.

Download the correct app for the current device. Advanced features can differ by operating system and app version.
