Live View & Multi-Camera Grid
Watch one camera or use an adaptive grid that responds to device resources and power mode.
Single Camera View
Tap any camera card on the main list to open its live view.
Double-tap the video or tap the full-screen icon. Pinch to zoom on iPhone/iPad.
Tap the speaker icon to toggle. Requires camera microphone and AAC or G.711 audio stream.
Tap the camera icon to save a still frame to Photos.
Switch between Main Stream (high quality) and Sub Stream (lower resolution, less bandwidth) via camera settings.
Multi-Camera Grid
SmartRTSP adapts simultaneous live streams to the device, selected performance mode, current memory and thermal pressure, and the cameras' codec and resolution.
To open the grid, tap the ⊞ grid icon in the top-right corner of the camera list.

| Power Saving | Keeps fewer active decoders and favors sub streams. |
| Balanced (default) | Balances visible cameras, quality, heat, and battery. |
| High Performance | Allows more work when hardware and current conditions permit. |
The grid adjusts its layout to the camera count. Tap a tile to expand that camera; use sub streams in the grid and the main stream for full-screen viewing when possible.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP)
On iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS), SmartRTSP supports Apple's built-in Picture-in-Picture. When you switch to another app, the live video continues playing in a floating overlay.
To enable PiP: while watching a camera, swipe up or press Home to go to another app. The video floats automatically. Tap the PiP window to return.
Main Stream vs Sub Stream
Switch per-camera: Camera Settings → Stream → Sub Stream. Strongly recommended when monitoring 4 or more cameras simultaneously.
Apple TV
On Apple TV (tvOS), SmartRTSP provides a remote-friendly monitor grid whose layout adapts to the configured camera set. Use the Siri Remote to navigate:
- • D-pad / swipe: navigate between cameras
- • Select (click): open a camera full-screen
- • Menu / Back: return to grid
