Get SmartRTSP running in under 5 minutes — from download to live video.
What is SmartRTSP?
SmartRTSP is a local RTSP and ONVIF camera viewer for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. It connects directly to your cameras over your local network — no vendor cloud account, no hub required. A 3-day trial is included; Pro is required afterward.

Before You Start

Camera and device on the same Wi-Fi network. RTSP is a local protocol — both must be on the same subnet. Remote access requires additional configuration (see Remote Access).

Camera's IP address and login credentials. You'll need the local IP (e.g.,
192.168.1.100), username, and password. -

A compatible camera. Any camera supporting RTSP or ONVIF — Hikvision, Reolink, Dahua, Tapo, Axis, Amcrest, Bosch, and thousands more.
Step 1 — Download SmartRTSP
Available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Windows, and Android.
Step 2 — Add Your First Camera
There are two methods. ONVIF auto-discovery is fastest — try that first.
Recommended Method A — ONVIF Auto-Discovery
- 1Open SmartRTSP and tap the + button on the camera list screen.
- 2Select ONVIF Scan.
- 3Wait 3–5 seconds. Compatible cameras appear automatically.
- 4Tap your camera, enter username and password.
TP-Link Tapo cameras require ONVIF to be enabled in the Tapo app first: Tapo app → camera → Settings → Advanced → ONVIF.
Method B — Manual RTSP URL
- 1Tap + then Manual.
- 2Enter the RTSP URL:
rtsp://user:pass@192.168.1.100:554/stream - 3Name the camera, tap Connect.
Step 3 — View Your Camera
- → Tap a camera card to open the live view.
- → Double-tap to enter full screen.
- → Tap the grid icon to open Multi-Camera Grid. SmartRTSP adapts active streams to the device, power mode, and available resources.
- → Tap the speaker icon to toggle audio.
