Your camera does not need native HomeKit support to be useful. If it exposes a compatible RTSP stream or ONVIF service, SmartRTSP can connect for direct viewing; SmartRTSP for Mac also provides the documented bridge workflow to Apple Home. Choose native HomeKit only when direct pairing or explicit HomeKit Secure Video support is a requirement.
Keep the camera you already own. SmartRTSP connects to compatible RTSP and ONVIF cameras for local viewing on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android. It is designed for mixed-brand camera lists, multi-camera grids and direct local-network playback without requiring the camera vendor’s cloud for the normal viewing path.
When you also want the camera in Apple Home, validate it in SmartRTSP first and then use the SmartRTSP for Mac bridge workflow. Native HomeKit certification is not required for this reuse path, but a working local stream and supported codecs are. Cloud-only cameras, sleeping battery cameras and models with disabled local streaming may not qualify.
The word compatible is often used too broadly. Decide which destination feature you actually need, then verify that exact path.

A camera may appear in the Home app without supporting encrypted event recording. Verify HomeKit Secure Video for the exact camera and integration path when recorded history, activity zones or rich notifications are required.
Matter 1.5 added a camera capability specification, but buyers still need to verify that the actual product, firmware and Apple Home release support the promised features. A protocol specification is not the same as a shipping certification.
