Quick answer
Check the camera’s DHCP lease or use Uniview EZTools to search the local network. Match the camera’s identity, note its current address and verify browser access. Uniview documents both DHCP and static configuration; a factory address from another model’s guide is not a reliable current address.
Find the current assignment first
Use the camera’s label to record its model and MAC address, then inspect your router or DHCP server’s client list. Uniview’s camera network guide describes DHCP assignment and manual static configuration. If DHCP is available and enabled, the address assigned by that server can differ from the number printed in a quick-start example.
Factory addresses are model- and firmware-dependent, not universal. Previously installed cameras can also retain another static address. Avoid changing a computer’s configuration or resetting the camera simply because a copied default address fails. First confirm the camera’s actual connection, power and identity.
Use the supported EZTools workflow
EZTools 3.0 supports device searches and network configuration for compatible Uniview equipment. It also includes broader batch management features. Use the official download page to select a supported platform and release. Older EZTools 2.0 instructions can use different labels, so consult the matching guide.
Steps
- Place the powered camera and discovery computer on the intended local network, then open EZTools.
- Search or refresh the relevant network segment and identify the camera by its model and MAC address.
- Record the current IP and open the device’s supported web interface. Authenticate or complete first-use setup as the model requires.
- If changing the address is necessary, choose DHCP or unique static settings, apply the change and check the tool’s result. Reconnect using the newly confirmed address.
Keep camera discovery separate from viewing
The camera’s web interface and EZTools can configure network parameters, while SmartRTSP uses the camera’s supported viewing connection. Finding a device does not automatically enable its RTSP service or establish the correct account. Check the exact model’s stream and ONVIF instructions before adding it to a viewer.
If the camera connects to an NVR’s own PoE ports, inspect the recorder’s camera list and documented access method. A private recorder network may explain why a Wi-Fi client cannot reach an address that EZTools or the recorder displays. For normal LAN cameras, keep a location-to-MAC record and coordinate DHCP reservations or static addresses. When a camera address changes, update the recorder and saved viewer entry, then test the intended main stream or substream again.
Frequently asked questions
Do EZTools 2.0 and 3.0 have identical menus?
No. The device and network operations are related, but labels and supported functions vary. Follow the instructions for your installed release.
Why did the camera address change after moving networks?
A camera using DHCP can receive a different lease on the new network. Find the new assignment and update the saved connection.
Does EZTools discovery prove RTSP compatibility?
No. Confirm the model’s streaming capability, account permissions and selected stream in the viewer as separate checks.
