Why SmartRTSP for Home Security

Multi-camera grid view

Monitor up to 4 cameras at the same time in a grid layout — see your front door, backyard, garage, and hallway all at once on iPhone or Mac.

On-device AI detection

Person and motion detection runs entirely on your iPhone or Mac using on-device AI — no footage is sent to the cloud for analysis. Alerts arrive as local notifications.

Smart event recording

Only record when something actually happens. Event-triggered recording saves storage and makes it easy to review what matters without scrubbing hours of footage.

Privacy-first: fully local

Your home camera footage never leaves your network. SmartRTSP works entirely on your local LAN — no cloud account, no data sharing, no subscriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cameras can I monitor at the same time?
SmartRTSP supports up to 4 simultaneous live camera feeds in a grid layout. You can swipe between different groups if you have more cameras set up.
Does it work when I'm away from home?
SmartRTSP works on the same local network as your cameras. For remote access when you're away, use a VPN (WireGuard, OpenVPN, or Tailscale) to securely connect back to your home network — then SmartRTSP works as normal. We don't recommend exposing port 554 directly to the internet.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. SmartRTSP is free to download. There is an optional one-time in-app purchase to unlock additional features, but there are no monthly or annual subscription fees.
What happens to my recordings?
All recordings are stored locally — on your device or to a connected NAS. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. Your home security footage stays private and entirely on your home network.
